I saw and heard John Kennedy speak in the summer of 1960.
He inspired us to act with kindness, asking us to treat others with respect and dignity.
He worked at pulling this country and the world together, not tearing everything apart, not pitting us against each other.
He was sophisticated and art cultured.
In 1964 Congress passed a law naming The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts as a living memorial to John Kennedy.
That law explicitly prohibits the board of trustees from making The Center into a memorial to anyone else and from putting another person’s name on the building’s exterior.
For Trump fill the Board with cronies and have The Center renamed, by adding his own name, and putting his name first on the exterior of the building, breaks the law and dishonors John Kennedy and the Center’s mission; a commitment to freedom of the arts.
Of the hundreds of disgusting things that Trump has done, this is the most disgusting to me.
John F. Kennedy was a great man. Trump is a national disgrace.
