UncategorizedORANGIE’S GONE

May 26, 2020

He was a beautiful, beautiful lizard. Maybe he was a she.

He was 9 or 10 inches long, end of his to nose to the tip of his tail.

Maybe an inch thick at his widest point, his tail 3 to 4 inches long.

About 3/4 of his head was a bright orange.

I’ve lived here going on 57 years, have spent a lot of time in the desert, hills and mountains of this glorious Sonoran desert, and he’s the only one of his kind that I’ve ever seen.

He was always in the northeast corner of my yard when I was out doing yard work and watering. And although he never came up to me he also never ran away to hide.

He was a beauty and he brought me great joy, gracing my life, as he did, with his presence for almost two years.

I buried him in his yard and placed a pretty good sized heart shaped rock over his grave.

I never thought of naming you until you were gone.

I miss you, and will continue to miss the pleasure of your company, little pal.

Your friend, Jeffrey
